Young Consultants are paid to be involved in these activities and have the opportunity to affect positive change in the care sector. Be.heard Program – Available in Queensland and Tasmania The Be.Heard project is a participatory consultation project that involves children and young people providing feedback to their relevant State departments. The consultation seeks the views of children and young people in care around the quality of care received by the Department by asking questions in areas such as case planning, participating in decision making, and feedback and complaints. A final report is submitted to the relevant State Department, to assist in the improvement of future service provision in the out-of-home care sector. The qualitative nature of the Be.Heard project provides a balance to departmental internal evaluation processes. The project further provides training to departmental staff, often co-facilitated by a CREATE young consultant. This training presents the results of the project, as well as practical ways to increase the participation of children and young people in decisions that affect their lives.
